Canvas, Printed Lace, Acrylic Paint, LED Neon, Pins
What We Make Together is about the joy of being a mother and the time we get to spend with our children while they’re little. The lace is printed with Riley’s drawings, and fragments of her artwork become some of the dots. The dots represent how the amount of time parents spend with their children has increased across generations. At its heart, the piece is about all those hours together: drawing, playing, making, talking, and simply being near each other. The days can feel long, but these years are incredibly short, and somewhere in all of those ordinary moments, she is making me.
