Acrylic Paint, Gold flecked Organza, Printed Lace, LED Neon, Thread, Spray Paint, Wooden Half-Spheres
This piece holds the joy and trauma of becoming a mother. The lace is printed with the quilt from Riley’s hospital bed, a symbol of hope and tenderness during a traumatic birth. Gold dots chart the increasing rate of C-sections over time, connecting Sara’s personal experience to generations of mothers. The piece holds two beginnings at once: Riley’s as a daughter and Sara’s as a mother.
